the necessities: stylist tool box

Here are some things that are a necessity for me when I work on a styling project. The things above are mostly for when I style a TV Production. When working on an editorial shoot or a commercial project, I barely need half these things since I then work with models that usually are the perfect sample size and don't require more than some safety pins, tape and clothing clips.
I always have Safety pins on me, seriously always. Clipped on my jeans or in the bottom of my bag, you never know when something breaks, bra strap needs to be fastened or a button is missing. Second is always a needle and thread, and third is double sided tape, sticks to anything, from folding up a pair of pants or covering up a boob.
Sanitary pads for someone who may sweat a little bit extra under the scorching lights in a studio, yep that's right I cut off the wings and stick them inside the shirt under the armpit. That way you won't get sweat marks, on for example a gray shirt (the worst!).
Glitter & sequins - you never know when you need to pimp something- from shoes to a boring top or just covering up a label.
And speaking of labels that's why i have the iron on tags. In some TV productions, advertising in the form of labels/branding on clothes is strictly prohibited. So these little lovelies are the best way to cover up a Lacoste Crocodile or a Lyle & Scott eagle.
And ofcourse shapewear! In all forms and models. I don't always use them, but they are great to have. These ones above are all from Flexees. My best model is the thigh panties, they keep both your tummy in place and give your butt and extra lift. Plus sometimes when the zipper won't zip that easily, it works wonders with one of these underneath.
Besides the above, I always have Hollywood fashion tape, nipple covers, a tape measure, buttons, different types of glue and of course all types of tape, from masking to double stick to duct tape.
