antwerp, belgium

I recently visited Antwerp in Belguim and I wanted to share with you a small guide to the city. Here are some of the places I visited when I was in town. I stayed at Les Nuits, a small boutique hotel with excellent staff and great rooms. A lot of luxury for the money. They also house their own restaurant, Flamant Dining, where I had the pleasure to dine at the roof top terrace. The food was great!

The big shoppingstreet is called Meir and there you’ll find stores like Forever 21 and Urban Outfitters and H&M. At Meir you’ll also find a store called Princess with a mix of more expensive brands, the department store Inno and the Stadsfeestzaal shopping center. And the most important thing; the Meir leads up to the central station where there’s a Starbucks. I most often order a grande latte at Starbucks. Yum! Yum!

If you enter the Stadsfeestzaal shopping center from the Meir street you can exit on the other side at Hopland. Take a right and Hopland becomes Schuttershofstraat. Here you’ll find stores like Gucci, Maje and Hermes. My favorite store on this street is Coccodrillo, a cute shoe store with a lot of designer brands like Balenciaga, Alaia, Prada and Giuseppe Zanotti.

If you take a left when you exit Stadsfeestzaal on Hopland you’ll first find the store Sandro and the eventually you’ll get to the big street Frankrijklei where there is a big Escada store. Cross the Frankrijklei and you’ll get to Maria-Theresialei, at number 17 you find Houben with brands like Celine, Christopher Kane and Nina Ricci. Houben also have an outlet store located at Steenhouwersvest 46.

The shopping at and around Lombardenvest is great. Here you’ll find stores like Dries Van Noten, Louis and Step by Step. At Louis you’ll find Balenciaga, Martin Margiela and Lanvin and more and at Step by Step you’ll find labels like Isabel Marant and Helmut Lang. There’s also a big store slash restaurant called Renaissance that offer great shopping (Alexander Wang, L’Agance, Matthew Williamson and Helmut Lang to mention some) and also great food. All in one place.

Take note: From Monday until Saturday most stores are open from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. On Sunday most stores are closed.
